Program Notes:

Dzirani Dzar, which means Apricot Tree, is based on the Armenian folk song of the same name. The original melody is split between the two performers and spread out across the entire range of the piano. I wrote the piece while studying in Armenia and chose the folk song from a book of Armenian folk music I purchased in a Yerevan Metro station.
